This Aide program was developed to provide prospective Medical Aides with the knowledge, skills and abilities essential for the provision of basic care to residents in long-term care facilities. Our Medical Aide program prepares students for employment as Medical Assistants. Our program also prepares students taking the Certified Nurse Aide course with many of the skills needed for the first semester of the Nursing program.
During this 100 hour course, students will be required to demonstrate the following skills under the supervision of a licensed nurse: communication, basic Nurse Aide and personal care skills, attention to client’s rights and care for clients with dementia. The program is recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) as a nurse-aide training program. Upon successful completion of the program, the student is eligible to take the Texas Nurse Aide competency evaluation for employment in nursing homes, hospitals, home health agencies, hospices, CBRF's, assisted living centers and homes for the developmentally disabled.
The Nurse Assistant / Nurse Aide certificate program prepares graduates for a career in the health care field such as a:

Our Nurse Aide program is constructed utilizing a comprehensive training pyramid which encompasses education and training in care for Assisted Living, Nursing Facilities, Memory Care, Home Care, Home Health, Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), Alzheimer's disease, Dementia and Hospice, while accomplishing the Texas Department of State Health Services curriculum
Pay: Between $18 to $25 per hour with benefits included
